CORPORAL PUNISHMENT

Corporal punishment being defined as inflicting physical harm upon a student in order to punish
him/her for misconduct.

No teacher, administrator, student, or other person will subject a student to corporal punishment
or condone the use of corporal punishment by any person under his/her supervision.

Physical restraint is authorized when needed to protect the safety of the individual student
and/or other students and employees. Documentation of any incident requiring such restraint
will be given to the Principal.

Provisions for the use of physical restraint, medical restraint and/or mechanical restraint are
established in Board Policy JKAA.
